Yeah, you hit it right on with that comparison. The only difference being that, depending on how much of ‘Catfish’ was fabricated, maybe that film was about the fabrication of a movie–ha!

Josh- I like your Wahlberg comparison, but you have to admit when Wahlberg is used effectively, he shines. Re: The Departed, Three Kings, Boogie Nights, The Fighter. Like Hai says, Christensen just needs to choose his roles better.

…and let’s all agree that this is one of Sarsgaard’s best performances.

Glad this got a lot of comments on Facebook and here too. I really thought nobody else had seen this movie, but it turns out it has lots of defenders!

He’s good in this film. I actually liked his performance in Factory Girl. He’s not terrible, the movies he chooses are… Jumper.

Some props need to be given to Saargaard. He’s great in this, as usual.

Also, I think this film would make a great discussion piece with the recent “documentary,” Catfish. Spoiler: both are about the notion of self-inadequacy and the fabrication of identity.

But, this looks promising. There are a lot of actors that can’t hold there own without good direction, and i think Hayden is one of them. Mark Walberg, could be another.
